Woldsweb is run by me Chris Berry. I have been working with computers for over 20 years and first started with web design in the late 90's. My emphasis is that whatever is designed must achieve the purpose and this means that one must always have in mind who is likely to be using the site. When I designed the Westfield Farm Cottages web site I was amazed by the amount of feedback I got from users complimenting me on the ease of use, the site is aimed mainly at the 'older user' who don't want 'flashy'. They just want to be able to get at the information and when something is clicked it works, quickly.
The fastest usually wins.
Yes I know the story of the hare and the tortoise, but with web pages speed usually wins. Unless a user is emphatic about a particular site, they will not wait for it. So you could have one of the flashiest pages on the net, with video, flash animation and the works, but if that page does not load within 5 seconds your potential customer has gone somewhere else. Thats why we only host on fast reliable servers and tend to keep the pages as simple as possible while still getting the message across.
